ASEI - NCC >>> About Us

ASEI is a national organization of engineers and professionals in related technical fields. Our objectives are networking, career guidance, technology transfer, business guidance, and promoting India's image as well as that of its professionals. ASEI has 10 chapters across USA and is linking with various professionals, institutions and business organizations in promoting technical and business issues of interest to our members. Regularly, ASEI members benefit from participating in our activities, and we would like to extend such benefits to new immigrants, graduating students and others in need of help.

The National Capital Chapter (ASEI-NCC) was started in 1990. Being located in the nation’s capital, it was appropriate to call it National Capital Chapter. The chapter organization consists of a board of Directors and several committees. The Board consists of nine directors. Three directors are elected every year for a three-year term to maintain continuity. The nine-member board elects an Executive committee consisting of President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary. The Chapter has adapted a constitution consistent with the ASEI Constitution.

Since its inception in 1990, the Chapter has achieved a lot in short period of time. It regularly holds seminars, workshops and panel discussion on topics of general interest to the members. It publishes a quarterly newsletter “LINK”. The first convention of the chapter was held in 1991. Since then, it has been holding a chapter convention every year. Many times it hosts the ASEI convention along with its annual convention. During the annual convention, the chapter present several awards. Recently, ASEI-NCC has instituted ASEI-NCC Science Fair Awards (ASFA) to recognize high school students in general science, mathematics and computers. The ASEI-NCC was instrumental in starting several new chapters of ASEI. It also works in cooperation with other engineering and alumni associations.

The ASEI-NCC has become a member of the DCCEAS effective September 1998. The DCCEAS is a non-profit organization whose members must be societies or their chapters. The membership list includes organizations such as the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) - National Capital Section, and various chapters of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). This development allows us to participate in mainstream American life, and also informs us of the activities of other professional societies in the area.
